Coffee Roasting and Grinding

Coffee Roasting

After the treatment process of a harvested coffee bean comes the coffee roasting; the most important step towards a delicious cup of coffee. While roasting, the beans not only slowly build up the intense fruity acids contained inside them, but the coffee also develops its many unique flavors.

A perfect roasting technique is an art. Each bean mixture requires an individual combination of time and temperature, and a bad roasting can even ruin the best coffee bean.

For a quick solution, beans can be roasted at very high heat. However, this often means that they are not roasted evenly and thus the flavors cannot develop properly. As this is a cheap and time-saving method, it is often used for mass production of low-cost supermarket coffee.

The quality of coffee is higher when the coffee bean is roasted for longer periods of time at a lower temperature. This helps to break down a specific chlorogenic acids, which means more flavoring agnts can develop . Of course, roasting the Gourmesso beans through this slow roasting process requires an extra does of patience, and is an improtant factor to us. We are constantly experimenting with different coffee blends and roasts to bring you even more delicious espresso varieties in the future!

Coffee Grinding

Before filling the coffee capsules, the coffee must be ground. The looseness of the ground coffee influences the amount of time needed for the water to flow into the machine. In the preparation of an espresso the water is only briefly exposed to the coffee, which means it must be very finely ground to ensure that the flavor can be rapidly absorbed and released.

Each Gourmesso capsule contains about 5 grams or .18 ounces of coffee, and is individually packaged to preserve the flavors that are developed through cultivation, harvesting, processing, roasting, and grinding for as long as possible. This way we can guarantee a pleasurable experience with Gourmesso coffee!

We hope the story of our coffee brings you a little closer to Gourmesso. If you have any questions or feedback about our coffee, please do not hesitate to contact us.
